metal-bijou
JOSSS and I were looking at driving to this mega-event in Austria. We are looking for two more people to join us and share the petrol etc Anyone interested? Edited April 4, 2010 by metal-bijou Quote Link to comment
metal-bijou
Alibags has now potentially thrown her hat into the ring as well. Anyone else interested? PS - For those interested in the geocaching history, OCB will be there. Quote Link to comment
Simply Paul
With an idea of costs and a look at the travel plan I could be interested. I've emailed Josss my thoughts too since he contacted me to draw my attention to the event and the idea of a trip to it. I've not been to Austria; it would be nice to fill it on on my caching map Quote Link to comment
sTeamTraen
Calais to Salzburg is 700 miles - plan for 12 hours moving time - but I guess you'd be able to add several new countries to your caching maps. I may well be driving there from Strasbourg (320 miles, 5 hours) on the Friday with 3 places in the car. If you can get to Karlsruhe-Baden airport (Ryanair flies there from Stansted, return is about 70 quid), it's just a 1km detour off the motorway, and the flight times would match up (either leave STN at 0700 on the Friday, or get the flight the evening before and stay at the airport hotel on the Thursday night, 132 Euros for a 3-bedded room). +Simply Paul
I'm looking forward to this trip. Along with fellow Geolympix committee member metal-bijou, plus Alibags and Josss we'll be covering over 2000 miles in four days, caching in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria (there's a village with a rude name on the border we just *had* to visit!), Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France again, Luxembourg, Belgium again and back into France. Quite a fact finding mission to a European Mega too. Wish us luck Quote Link to comment
currykev
My best wishes to you all on your European fact finding mission to Austria and Beyond. I'm actually quite jealous., now the weather has improved locally. Can I offer one small piece of advice. Get up early if going to the hotel pool. It's not unknown for NW caches will place their towels on the sunbeds 1st. Quote Link to comment
