+Gratefulmike and NaviBear Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 We found these markers suspiciously close (<100 feet) to where there should have been benchmarks on 2 occasions. They were about 4 to 5 feet tall and the only thing written on them was Deuteronomy 30. We couldn't see anything in the bottom of them but they felt like they would probably come up with little resistance. Didn't try it though since we are clueless about their purpose. We thought just maybe they had something to do with the missing benchmarks. Quote
+erik88l-r Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 It looks like a sort of insect trap, but with a biblical reference. See http://www.htmlbible.com/kjv30/B05C030.htm Maybe logging these will be a future branch of geocaching. Just kidding guys! ~erik~ Quote

"And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. " May be some sort of property boundary. ENJOY THE OUTDOORS Quote
+infosponge Posted June 5, 2002 Posted June 5, 2002 27:17 'Cursed is he who moves his neighbor's boundary marker.' All the people shall say, 'Amen.' It doesn't say anything about curses on people who write the wrong chapter number on a boundary marker, though. [This message was edited by infosponge on June 05, 2002 at 01:24 PM.] Quote

+MrHaywire & Co. Posted June 6, 2002 Posted June 6, 2002 Looks to me like a riser from a tile line. Used in low spots to drain off water that has pooled behind a terrace or levee. Don't know why it would have a reference to Deuteronomy 30 though. Just a SW Iowa farmers opinion. MrHaywire & Co. Quote
