+Rosemont Team
Did anyone else hear the story on NPR's All Things Considered tonight about North Carolina and South Carolina survey teams re-surveying their 400 mile boundry? It was last surveyed in 1815. The story gave as one of the reasons for the re-survey is the pricey new resort homes! Rosemont Team Quote Link to comment
+embra
I caught that...I felt both amusement and compassion for the couple that bought a house they thought to be in North Carolina, only to learn that it straddles the border. They have to pay taxes in both states, and have a murkey title claim on the South Carolina side. Guess that surveying is about more than standing around in the sunshine. +PI Joe
I caught the last half of it. It seems that the border on the stretch they were working on followed a height-of-land. I would guess that that is one of the hardest things to determine accurately. TxHiPowr Quote Link to comment
+GEO*Trailblazer 1
Do you have a link to the story.I haven't heard it down here. Since the Original States were Surveyed differently than things now I would like to see how it turns out. +embra
I'm not sure how long this will be good for, but it should work today. Look for the link to Carolinas Re-Survey Border. (If the link doesn't work, go to www.npr.org, and find the All Things Considered program for March 28, 2003.) Max Often wrong but seldom in doubt Quote Link to comment
