Triton 400: initial set-up...what do I need to do

I am not sure if my new Triton 400 is set up properly. All the caches I uploaded seem to be off by 30 miles. I was wondering if there is some set-up features I need to adjust.

Is the Navigation supposed to set-up to:

Coordinates System, Lat/Long

Map Datum, WGS84

North Refrence, Magnetic???

How can I set up a screen that will have an arrow pointing the correct direction, and list the distance to the cache?

Is there a way to change how long the screen stays lit?

Does anyone have any other recommended settings?

Changing Map Datum

1. Press Menu->view->Settings->Navagation

2. Where it says Map Datum(second one Down), make sure WGS84 is selected.

Changing coordinate systems

Here you go...

1. Menu->View->Settings->Navagation

2. Highlight Lat/Long Press Select(You may need to press it twice) It should say...Accuracy

3. Change that to Deg/Min.MMM

You really don't want the screen to stay lit very long. That sucks battery juice hard.

Customizing the map screen. This became available with the last firmware update. You can have the screen show 2 or 4 fields.

To set the number of fields...

From the map screen...

Press Select

Scroll down to Map Options and select that

Select off, 2 or 4 fields

To customize the fields...

From the map screen...

Press Select

Scroll down to Customize Fields and select that.

Highlight the field you want to change and press Select

Highlight the new field and press select

I use 2 fields

Distance to End. Which will show the distance to the cache.

I also use Reading.

Another stuff you may want to look at..

The Profiles.

Press Menu-View->Profiles

Select the Geocaching one and you can choose which pages it shows

When searching for a cache, press Page Down and it'll cycle through those pages.

Also, from any page, press Select and you'll get a menu. You can use that to reset the page.
