+Henrijs
We are 3 boys from Latvia. We are going to Tampere next week for 24 hours snow/winter hiking and to find some geo-caches. We have few questions: 1 - Is it possible to cross the sea on foot over the Luoto island? Is the sea frozen? 2 - Can we pass forests and fields with no stress about privacy laws? Is there something that we should bear in mind? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

+Tervas
1- Does not seem to be possible: ...there is no safe way or direction to approach the place in winter time, as the whole island is surrounded by strong currents and the ice never gets thick enough to ski or walk on. So: Boat only, summer time only. Luoto geocache has latest found in September. GC1P92H and GCE250 are better targets for walking on ice (or skiing, there is a lot of snow). +Henrijs
We did it. Very beautiful nature. Surprised many large stones. Difficult part was the return of along the airfield. The morning was cold. We did not find some of the hides, because there was much snow. Greeting from the Latvia!
