NordicMan
Hi & welcome to GeoCaching ..serial cables for the old Etrex's are kinda $$ pricey.. I hope you're sitting down for this! https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=654 And I'm not sure how much updating the maps are capable of anyway,, you might want to research that some more before pulling out your wallet Quote Link to comment
+Chi-Town Cacher
Hi and welcome to the game! My nephew had a similar predicament and he ended up getting one off eBay and I think he said including s/h it came to less than $10. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
ThunderHold
Yeah I think I am gonna do some research, it may not even be worth it. But I do love GeoCaching. Thank you for the welcome and your help. Quote Link to comment
+redjada
So far I am highly addicted to it, but I do have one problem since i dont have alot of money i had to buy the Etrex Legend and it didnt come with a data cable an having a hard time tracking one down, lol all I want to do is update the maps. I use an old etrex yellow. It works good for me. When I needed a data cable, I posted here on the GPS Garage Sale forums and I got the cable for $10. Then I needed a serial to USB adapter. I posted that on the yahoo free cycle sight and got one for free. But if your handy with little tiny wires, you can Google and find out how to make one yourself. Just some ideas. ThunderHold
Yeah I saw the sameone, Im starting to think that updating my maps isnt worth it. Think I will save my pennies up for a better GPS device. RadioShack is such a rip off. Quote Link to comment
