need help with cacheberry on 8320

I can get GPS functionality with

BB maps

Google Maps

BB tracker

Blackstar

GPS tracker

Amaze

Navfun

Mobile Gmaps,

and others, using a keychaing GPSr, but can not get cacheberry GPS functionality to work.

I have the newest version, 2.1.7 of cacheberry and OS 4.5.0.81 on my 8320.

On Rogers Wireless.

I of course have made sure that Cacheberry has all of the permissions enabled.

I can go to advanced options and refresh, and save the GPS but that doesn't help.

I can open up blackstar, for instance, while running cacheberry, and get a sat lock in 2 seconds.

(blackstar does not like to "share" the GPS, and will not get a lock if I am using GPS with Navfun, for example)

I have uninstalled googlemaps. (it is known for having problems, including uninstalling other GPS software, such as mobile Gmaps) I then re-installed cacheberry.

I like Cacheberry, and would really like to be able to use sort by current location, and the compass feature.

Has anyone had any experience with it, using a bluetooth GPSr?

PS. I have tried to find help on the cacheberry forums. There are a lot of threads covering how to unlock GPS functionality on certain providers' phones, but can find nothing that resembles my issue there. I have so far been unable to get them to send me an activation email, so that I can post there.

Have you installed the correct version? Two version exist, one is for non GPS units and the other one is for units that have a GPS. You must install the GPS version for CachBerry to use the GPS.

I got it working now. I dont' know if all the steps were required, but it works.

I installed CB 2.0.0 and the GPS worked.

I then re-installed 2.1.7 and once again, do not get a GPS lock.

I went back to 2.0, it worked. I then went to 2.1.1, and it worked. I looked at the GPS options, and noticed that they were set to INTERNAL !!

I changed it to Bluetooth, and lost the gps function.

Went back to Internal, and it worked again.

I am now running 2.1.7, with GPS still set to INTERNAL, and it is working.

*note * The 8320 does NOT have an internal GPS. Though somehow CB will only read the Bluetooth GPSr as an internal GPS.
