Magellan Triton 400 help needed

I got this as my first GPS about a month ago and have been using it since with only few issues.

 

It connects to the computer ok and I can upload/download waypoints and caches but when I try to update the firmware it always says "unknown attached" and I can't proceed.

 

I've contacted their customer support which was no help so I was hoping someone in the geoworld might know a solution.

What operating system are you using? Do you have Vantage Point installed? Have you looked for some help on the tritonforums?

you can download the updates and install them without vantage point also.

I have a Triton 400. The lat update worked fine through VantagePoint, the one before that had to be done without VP

I have Windows XP, Triton Firmware version 1.41 and version 1.6 of Vantage Point on the computer. I've checked the forums and followed all the instrustions to update the drivers on the computer. They are all right.

 

I don't understand why Vantage Point knows the device is a Triton 400 when I load caches, maps, etc... but the update always says "unknown is attached".

The latest firmware version is 1.78. If the update didn't work, try doing it without VantagePoint.

 

There are some knew features that are really nice.
