How many items?

So, we (my family and me) are about to hide our first cache, and we aren't sure how may items to put in it. I want to put in 2 or 3 things, but other people in my family are saying I should only put in 1. So how many items should you put in a cache when you're first hiding it?

Whatever you like.

I've put caches out that only have a logbook and pen...while I've put out others with 8-10 pieces of swag. It depends on the size of the cache and the location and personal preference.

The true answer is this. It is completely up to you.

On the flip side if you are putting out a med-large or large cache I would at least consider putting a bunch of swag into it. Nothing more disappointing than to go for a large geocache and find nothing inside. Otherwise it might as well be a micro.

I guess the real answer is a question: If you and the kids were opening a brand new cache, what would you want to find in it? Put it there...

I filled a ammo can at Walgreens for less than $10.

Aside:Mr. Stinkyman just asked 'You can buy ammo cans at Walgreens?'

I've started my new caches with enough trade items that they don't look empty, but not so many that it's packed to the brim. I'd like someone to be able to drop a TB without needing to take trade items to make space for the TB.

Depends on the size of container and any "theme" you are trying follow. We generally stuff ours to the gills with as many as 30 to 40 items (in a 50 cal ammo can).
