Oregon 300 vs 550 for geocaching?

I've got a great offer this week, as I can have a oregon 300 for free, or pay the difference, and get a 550.

So,

for pure geocaching purposes, is the 550 so much better, that it is worth the extra bucks, anf if so, why?

 

I have a 60CSx, that I use for hiking and huntingtrips, andwill do that inthe future also, due to better batterylife, ruggedness, and it has proven to be watertight.

I would probably opt to pay the difference myself, but I have the Oregon 300 and like it quite a bit.

I agree, stay with the $300 and use the extra $ to buy accessories.

I also agree. At least until the 550 becomes reasonably priced like the 300.

Its a tough one for sure.

 

I think it all comes down to :

 

Do you want a camera?

And

How much do you use the compass on the 60CSX?

If you barely use it then 300, if you use it alot then you should consider the 550.

 

Otherwise they are pretty much identical, but the 300 is probably reaching the end of its development and the 550 is just starting.
