LACoFDFireman
I currently have a Gamin 2730 and love everything about it except there is no Removable Storage so I am very limited to the amount of Maps, Music etc that I can store on the unit... Does Garmin make something that is under $300 with this capability? I know when I bought my 2730 it was like $185 because they are discontinued.... I don't mind buying something that is disscontinued because I know Garmin still supports them... But do you know of a GPS that does what I am asking? Quote Link to comment

How about listing what you want, and what you want to do with it (i.e., caching, caching + driving nav, etc.) Quote Link to comment
+Jeep4two
I'm not aware of any trail based GPSrs that have XM Radio or MP3 capabilities. These features are more suited to in car navigation. As JSWilson points out, more detail on what you plan on using your unit for would help. There aren't many units in the Nuvi line that are rugged enough for regular trail usage (i.e. using while geocaching) and I think the music features you are looking for are probably only going to be on in car systems like the Nuvi. +sodajerk
Some Lowrance I finder series have MP3 as well as the new Endura Series available July 2009. Have not found one with XM Radio. Quote Link to comment
+hylndr
You might want to check out the Bushnell ONIX 400. Bushnell ONIX 400 I believe it's the only GPSr that has XM radio capability. Great for back country hiking and checking out incoming wheather!!! I don't have one, and I'm not even sure they are on the streets yet, but it's an interesting combo... Hylndr Quote Link to comment

Hylndr It hasn't had really good reviews. It was one of the receivers I was looking at before i settled in on the DeLorme. Unless the issue was fixed, XM was not fully enabled when I was looking into it. So for weather reports, I decided to rely on my radio. Some FRS radios have shortwave receiver built in which will allow you to listen in on the weather report loop. For the satellite views, you'll gain 3m resolution. There is no standalone software for mapping and the cost of the satellite downloads is a little high when you consider what it would take to cover a wide area of interest. I never did get an answer to how much acreage/mileage a tile would encompass. Quote Link to comment
