WIU Cache Pirates
I'm looking for a GPS exclusive for geocaching. The perfect model is one that can get me to the coords I need to be at with some degree of accuracy and efficiency. I am a poor jobless college student and am looking for one as cheap as possible. Suggestions of model and vendor is appreciated. Online vendors acceptable. Quote Link to comment
+tzipora
The Geomate Jr. or the Garmin eTrex series would both do the job for about $100 by the time you get the GPSr and necessary accessories. Quote Link to comment
+fratermus
The perfect model is one that can get me to the coords I need to be at with some degree of accuracy and efficiency. All handheld units will meet the above criteria. Sniff around the Garage Sale forum looking for older used models; people buy new ones and sell off their older gear. Quote Link to comment
NordicMan
Well, the cheapest "new" Geocaching GPSr is probably that Geomate Jr that has been mentioned, and while it is pretty neat I don't really like it becuase it truly is a "geocaching only GPSr" meaning it won't do anything else Next cheapest would be the Lowrance iFinder GO2 http://www.tigergps.com/loifgo2pohag.html It is quite accurate and has a built-in basemap, a pretty good value for >$100. However it won't (easily) connect to your computer.. so... next in the list might be the Garmin eTrex Venture HC for a bit over $150 http://www.tigergps.com/garminventurehc.html This site might not be the cheapest, shop around maybe there's a better deal. And it will accellerate the thread to the next step where the OP starts to list his real GPS requirements. :-) Quote Link to comment
+baloo&bd
Or, as an a alternative, become a slightly less poor student with a job. Quote Link to comment
