+dhoweemc
Is there anyone who is currently involved in a geosnowball fight with another member? Does anyone know if there is another site that has rules of the fights? I am wondering about getting a snowball fight going in west michigan with other cachers in the area, Any Ideas on how this can be done? Edited May 11, 2009 by dhoweemc Quote Link to comment
+DavidMac
Am I the only one who has never heard of this term before? Can someone enlighten me? Then again, I do live in Mississippi, and it doesn't snow much here. Quote Link to comment
GOF and Bacall
I'm from Buffalo and I have no idea what the op is on about. I suspect it has little to do with cold, wet, snow. Quote Link to comment
+dhoweemc
I have found some geosnowball coins that had a printable page with them. looks as if they are trying to get another game started by selling these coins??? http://shop.geoswag.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/snowball.html Or is this a game that can be started at a local level??? GOF and Bacall
Just a gimmick to sell coins. Up there in Grand Rapids I'd think if you wait a few months you could be throwing actual snowball at each other. Quote Link to comment
+dhoweemc
Could those be used as a game to get other members in a goecrapic area to "chase others" with those coins and "splat them" I guess what I was thinking was to 1. Watch the logs of members that are involved in the snowball fight. 2. Follow up and place coin in cache that watched member has visited. 3. Notify that member that they were splatted. 4. Splatted member needs to return to the cache and retreive the geosnowball coin before that coin is picked up by another person 5. Wiki page can be made up for the members involved in the snowball fight to track you was splatted and by whom. anyone think this might work? Quote Link to comment

Sooner or later the supply of coins would start to dry up. People not in the know would pick them up and take them out of the area. Quote Link to comment

That's why the person who got splatted would have to get the coin quickly, or the coins would need to tagged for a special purpose only, please do not remove. Quote Link to comment
+Hrethgir
Are you one of the people selling these coins, or something? I see the theory in what you're saying, but you can tag the coin however you want, it WILL leave the area and end up in a cache in ireland sooner or later, no matter what you want done with it. I wouldn't want to play, anyways. Why would I want to hurry back to a cache I had just visited just to get a geocoin? Quote Link to comment
crawil
This sounds like one of those games on Facebook that I constantly ignore. If you are looking for someone to fight with, I would go to a regional forum or bring it up at a local event. Quote Link to comment

No I am not selling these coins, But I might look at getting some if i can find people in my area that would like to try something just a little bit different, maybe to help find caches that others may have visited or would like to visit. If they end up gone thats Ok, but it was just something I seen and thought it might be fun, just for some local freinds. I am not trying to change geocaching at all. hope you did not get that impression. You can look for your own coins if you wish as you see fit for your own enjoyment. Sorry that this seemed to upset you and you felt you needed to add a negative remark to this post. Noticing your log in shows you are a tab bit of a negative person to begin with. +ThirstyMick
The coin addicts over in the coin forum, often trade geocoins, or send gift geocoins in the mail to each other... They are an inexpensive bonus coin, people were "tossing" them around to each other as gifts.. They're also good quality but cheap swag. I'm not sure if there have been snowball fights with the trackable ones. That is, I'm not sure about the coin missions via cache that individuals might have, but people were tossing (through the mail) those around too. It could be a fun mission though, giving it the goal of reaching another cacher, who can then pick the next person Quote Link to comment

"So and so threw a snowball at you...throw one back..." Facebook was my first thought as well. Had no idea about the coins; just shows how far away from that arena I am these days.
