+Rustynails
I'm getting a garmin 60csx. I am thinking of upgrading to a 2GB memory card. Some people disagree on what the card holds. All I know so far it stores map information. Can or will a memory card store waypoint/cache or other imformation? What information will it store? I will be using it in two diffrent states, will swapping cards work for keeping locations seperate logs in two states? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
You technically can put Waypoints on the card, but the GPS unit cannot read them from there. Waypoints (as well as Routes) must be loaded into to the device memory. The microSD card can be used to store maps, Custom POIs, and (I believe) you can save Tracks to the card. Quote Link to comment

If by "locations" you mean waypoints, the answer is No. If you mean maps, well, yes you could do that, but it would be a pointless thing to do. A 2GB card will hold the entire continent.
