+chrisanderson443
I have purchased an etrex legend hcx. I have also became a premium member to start utilizing pocket queries and GPX files. I have used the send to gps feature with great luck, but when I go into the Geocaching section of the gps it lists each Cache by name. My question is, does the GPS not have the fields or the ability to give me informaiton such as terrain and difficulty? Or cache type, Micro - Large, etc? I would like to cache paperless, but without some of this informaiton it would be tough. I have played with Cachemate and GSAK. I see the benefits of these applications, but was wondering if there were any benefits of the GPX file over LOC files on the Etrex iteself. Thanks, Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
The eTrex does not have that ability for Waypoints. You can get some of the data by using the GSAK macro and loading them as Custom POIs. Quote Link to comment
+smithdk
As Motorcycle Mama said you can use POIs to load most of the cache page to the GPS unit with a GSAK macro. Here is a link to that macro: http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=8926 It will load the information just fine to your unit. I use this macro with my VistaHcX to go out caching and it is very useful to have. Quote Link to comment

Thanks, If you do not want to use a macro you can still include some basic information by using the "Send to GPS" feature in GSAK. See my post here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry3857284 I still recommend the macro though. I'm using it and have it set up like this: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...t&p=3861333 Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Even thoough the macro allows you to carry some/most of the cache information - it is somewhat encoded and usually spread between multiple POi points - it is a real stretch to call the Legend HCx a paperless Geocaching unit.
