iherndon
Hey everyone! This is the first time i've posted on here, but I joined a few months ago interested in getting into Geocaching. I was wondering if anyone would know the names of the top few GPS programs for the computer that sync up with the GPS itself to extract travel information. You know, anything that will like show routes and maybe even give the option to select days or time period and seeing where the GPS travelled, how long it took, how long rest stops were. Is there anything like that? Maybe that even shows the speed of travel and all the normal info that would be displayed on a gps. Is that kind of software even around or maybe it's specific to the type of gps you have? I have a Garmin Nuvi 205. Thanks for your help! Quote Link to comment

iherndon
Is there a way to find my GPS if it was lost or stolen, as long as it's on and I have the serial number? If so, how could I go about doing this? Quote Link to comment

No, your GPSr has no transmitter. To answer your question in the original post, yes, there is a way to get all the travel information of where you have been. See the article: Fun with Nuvi Track Logs Summary of my article: your Nuvi's Current.gpx file holds your track log, with each segment being when you turne on and off your Nuvi (done automatically when plugged into your car's switched power socket.) Open this file in Google Earth and you will see the segments listed on the left. Double click on a segment and a box will pop up with statistics on this segment, and you will see the track on the map. Quote Link to comment
