+misko903 Posted March 29, 2009 Share Posted March 29, 2009 hello, does anybody know about any hack of garmin etrex devices? maybe it is a good time to start doing something this way. i am missing for ex. some geocaching functions, such as have more icons to search with geocaching mode. i think it is possible, one guy was starting hacking with etrex http://etrex.webz.cz/zip/eTrexLand1.2Kit.zip , we need some entry points to start it. does anybody have more informations? i have some experiences from hacking old siemens phones (S45i, ME45, A35...). The principle is very similar. miso Warum willst Du das machen ?? of course to make me vista better! there are a lot of things, which can be better. for example i am using custom icons for geocaching (for each type of the cache another - right icon). but i can search only one icon with geocaching mode. and i am too lazy to switch the icon every time... and there are many other reasons to make this fw better... gmueller, you are not misssing any function? extremecarver Posted March 31, 2009 Share Posted March 31, 2009 If you could get functions like reading routes etc. from SD card would be great. Or get the filesize limit up to 4GB, or less restrive restrictions on routes/tracks ..... Even better having the etrex acknowledge two mapsets - so you could have gmapsup1.img for maps like City Navigator and local topo maps, and gmapsupp.img for maps like OSM that one often updates or topos from places you go to during the holidays.
