Cushmaniacs
Hello all, My GPS (Magellan eXplorist 210) seems to be about 10 feet off to the west. A few months ago I started planning on hosting a few geocaches, scouted the positions and "marked" them with my gps. However, now when i revisit those locations they are both off by about 10-15 feet to the west. I did some reading around on the Magellan boards and in the FAQ there is mentions recalibrating the system after long periods of not being used. 1. Does anyone know how to recalibrate this system? 2. Would the fact we are close to day lights saving have anything to do with this. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
The standard error of our handheld units runs around 20-25 feet (more or less). As the satellites move overhead and the atmoshere changes (temperature, pressure, etc). The readings and accuracy shift around as well. I would not worry about anything like you are describing. Sounds pretty normal. Quote Link to comment
+imaric
I have Sport Track pro and it is about 300-400 feet wrong. On average it mages .016 N and .126 W systematic offset error. It is very repeatable, within a few digits2-3/1000. I compared it with 3 other GPS units and Google/topo map. Is there a way to calibrate this out? I called Magellan support and they said this model is no longer supported… This model is good enough for me, I just hate to subtract numbers every time when I search for a cache… Thanks Quote Link to comment

+GPSlug
Definitely not anything that needs to be calibrated. It's basically impossible for a consistent position error to be caused by a hardware problem. Quote Link to comment
