nad27 to wgs84

I have a map about 10 years old that has the coordinates in Nad27. I would like to know what they would be in wgs84 . I am having trouble converting, If you can help pleased to hear from you.

Enter them in your GPS in one format, then change the map datum to the other. The unit will convert them for you.

National Geodetic Survey (NGS) has a tool called NADCON that does exactly what you ask for. GO to

That would be my suggestion as well. Most GPS units can switch between them quite easily.

NADCON converts NAD27 to NAD83. Hopefully that's halfway close to WGS84, but not guaranteed.

Close enough for use on a hand-held recreational unit. If I recall correctly, NAD83 is a slightly tweaked version of WGS84 that is optimized for North America.

Corpscon does all coordinate systems, but may be overkill. I have used Corpscon to convert whole files, like GNIS POI files for instance.
