+andyfee
Hello all, Just recently I have found a cache that is in need of work doing to it. Several people have asked for this cache to be looked at, but nothing has been done for a few months. Looking at the cachers details for this cache he/she has just let other caches just get archived away and not kept up maintaining them. What is the etiquette for asking if the owner of the cache would like to put a cache up for adoption ? Sorry I am a newbie, well since Sept 08. Thanks for reading. Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
You can contact the cache owner through their profile and ask them whether they would like you to adopt their cache. If they are happy to do this then they need to use this link to do the formalities: http://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ If you don't get any response from the cache owner (perhaps because they've left the geocaching game and they're not interested any more) and they haven't responded to "needs maintenance" logs on the cache, then the next step is for you to add a "Needs Archive" log. This means that one of the Reviewers will have a look at the situation. If they can get no response from the owner either, then the cache will probably be archived. This will then free up the spot for you to put a brand new cache in the area, thus providing brand new smiley opportunities for everyone. MrsB Quote Link to comment
