Need Etrex Vista HCx, broken, but with 2.40/2.40 config

I need some firmware that Garmin is unwilling to give me. So:

I’m looking for a Garmin Etrex Vista HCx that has the 2.40/2.40 software/firmware configuration. The unit does not need to work! I only need the chipset that is in the unit. My plan is to take the unit apart, and download the firmware directly from the chipset via an EPROM read/write device (because I can’t seem to get it any other way). So, does anyone have a unit that has a broken screen, or something like that which would render the unit “unusable” but not “unsalvageable” and therefore I can pick up for very little $?
