hydrantgirl
Hi all - we are new to Geocaching, and live North of Winnipeg. We want to continue this winter, but we don't know which geocaches are "winter friendly". Is there anyway to tell? If anyone knows of some that are or are not "winter friendly" please reply! thanks. +moop
If the cache placer has done his or her job properly, they would set the "available in winter" attribute. On the right side of the cache page is the "Attributes" box. If it contains a snowflake, then the cache should be winter friendly. As you can tell from my tone, this ain't always the case. +trag_cachers
Another thing you can do is look at the logs for the caches to see if someone has found it recently. This is a pretty good indicator whether it is winter friendly or not. I hope this helps! Quote Link to comment
J.A.R.S.
I think what makes a cache truly winter friendly is: safe plowed parking nearby container hidden above snow level (about a meter or more high) container not likely to get frozen in place I've been keeping a bookmark list of types of caches I've found that meet these requirements. You might consider helping out fellow cachers in your area by keeping a bookmark list. Edited November 27, 2008 by J.A.R.S. Quote Link to comment
