Well I stopped to pick up some pasta and sauce last night, and left the drivers window down barely 1 1/2" and some got a hold of the Etrex in it's cradle and yanked it out, and broke the cradle to get it. barely 4 mins in the store came out and found the broken cradle on the seat.

 

What should I replace it with?

For a handheld that you obviously use in the car I would say the Oregon. Nice big screen and an automotive mode. You might look at the Nuvi 500 or 550 if you use it more for the car that geocaching.

It depends on how much you want to spend?

I would replace it with another Vista HCx. Unless you can't afford it, in which case I would start with the Venture HC, then the Summit HC, then Legend HCx. Or, look at used models.

 

Why doesn't Garmin add the same security featues as on the Nuvis and other dashmodels? It can't be all that much to add similar features - is it?
