How long to publish?

Recommended Posts

To date I've hidden 17 caches. My first hide was published a few hours after I submitted it and since then many of them have been published within a day or two. But right now I have 3 hides waiting for approval and a friend of mine has at least 2 hides waiting for approval. We both submitted caches last Friday and Saturday, and I submitted one Sunday, and none of them have been approved or denied yet and no word from a reviewer.

In another instance, I did 3 hides in one day, all around an area lake about 30 miles out of town. There were no other caches in this area and I placed them with the intention of letting people get 3 good finds (2 regulars and a micro) while out for a nice drive. I submitted them all within 10 minutes of each other. The 2 regulars were approved within 48 hours, the micro took 5 days to be approved.

I've checked the profiles for two of our area reviewers, one was online Saturday, the other hasn't been online since October 3rd.

I realize the reviewers are volunteers and have lives outside of this but is it normal for submissions to take this long?

Please see this article in the Groundspeak Knowledgebase. You'll note that the service standard for volunteers is to provide an initial review within three days. You should press the panic button after a week, and write to Groundspeak.

I confirmed that your caches are properly awaiting review in the Montana cache queue. So, there's no need to double-check anything on your end.

Sometimes life gets in the way. Maybe the Montana reviewer went on a roadtrip last weekend. Maybe he/she/it (many reviewers are dogs) are having life issues. Me, I'm getting by with a space heater until my new furnace is installed next Monday. Brrrr! But, I am still trying to keep up with new cache reviews.

Thanks for your patience, and thanks for hiding caches!

Thanks Keystone! I knew I had seen an article pertaining to review times but I couldn't remember where and couldn't seem to find it again. It good to know they are in the queue and not hung up anywhere.

Hope all goes well and your new furnace keeps you nice and toasty warm. Especially if it's anywhere near as cold at night there as it has been here.

To get by, I'm doing searches for forum posts by Vinny & Sue Team. Between reading the posts themselves, and the strain on my computer's fan from the sheer number of them, I'm generating enough hot air so that I don't need to wear gloves at the keyboard.

Thanks for your concern.
