larsonec
I'm new to GPS and am trying to figure out how to switch the default coordinates (which I believe are DDM??) to decimal on my hcx. I need to be able to enter coordinates in the format of N41.33939 W08.17735. I'd appreciate any guidance on how to do this and what this new format is called (decimal degrees??). Thanks Quote Link to comment

+coggins
Set it to: hddd.ddddd° Decimal degrees would be the correct term. Edited September 9, 2008 by coggins Quote Link to comment

I need to be able to enter coordinates in the format of N41.33939 W08.17735. I use a program called Fizzycalc on the PC to convert coordinates into the format I need. this may be helpful to you. http://www.fizzymagic.net/Geocaching/FizzyCalc/index.html Quote Link to comment
+naviguesser74
I've made a little Excel spreadsheet that will convert any format to any other. I'll email it to you. Quote Link to comment
larsonec
where might I find a faq or other basic reference on how coordinates are calculated, types of formats, etc? I'd like to learn a little more about the basics behind the technology. Quote Link to comment
