garylost
I am bran new to Geocaching (two days) I have a Garmin 750 and a 5000 I realize that I now need a handheld to rely find the cache. I get to the spot drive up and park and try to use the 750 but no luck finding cache's. I kind of been looking at the Garmin 60csx would this be a good choice, and or one for less or more money. any help would be great. Thanks Gary Edited August 24, 2008 by garylost Quote Link to comment
Hrethgir
There are a lot of people who really like the 60csx, but I've never really used one much myself, so I can't speak to it. But I have a Garmin eTrex Legend HCx, and it works great for me. Small form factor, easy to read color screen (even in direct sunlight; I always have it mounted on my motorcycle when I go for a ride), high sensitivity reciever, and if you shop around online, you can get a great deal, got mine brand new for $188 shipped. +Rubberhead
I have a Nuvi 650 and 760 and I like both. But, I adore my GPSmap 60CS. It is the most useful GPS unit I've ever used or owned... Quote Link to comment
roadrage64
The 60CSx is one of the finest units you can buy for Geocaching. While it doesn't have some of the latest features, it is a tried and true work horse that always gets the job done. I very highly recommend it with no reservations. Quote Link to comment
garylost
Can you down load Geocaching spots on the 60csx like you do with the Nuvi's and the oregon. 60csx have a usb if so will it be a gpx file. Quote Link to comment
Redwoods Mtn Biker
The 60CSx is an excellent unit. Unlike the 60CSx, the Oregon series supports paperless caching. The main tradeoff is poorer visibility in sunny conditions for the Oregon. Quote Link to comment
garylost
Im not sure I know what paperless caching is can you explain, and can you down load gps spots (caches) to the 60csx Quote Link to comment
Redwoods Mtn Biker
Yes, you can load caches to the 60CSx. Transferring caches to the Oregon will get you more than just the coordinates -- you'll also get the full description, cache size, difficulty and terrain ratings, and recent logs. That way there is no need to print out any info to take into the field, hence the term paperless caching. Quote Link to comment
garylost
Rich Thank you this clears up the confusion for me sorry I am such a newbe with all of this I think am going ahead with the 60csx it seems the actuary is better then the Oregon still might be a bit buggy. I found my first cache (Travel Bug) yesterday....... now all I have to do is figure how to log the find. The web site seems to be a bit much, or is it just me could be age you know LOL.
