Team Chinook
ok, I just took advantage of the 25% off sale at REI, which short of paying tax, put the price at just near the cheapest internet retailer. So I'm ok w/ that...however; Has anyone encountered a flaky usb connection? I really have to hold/ram the cable into the colorado to get the mass storage connection and it seems very flaky. Slightest movement and it goes out, a little further wiggling and it's back in. Just doesn't seem right. I haven't tried my blackberry cable, but they look the same, so should work. I ran the colorado export via GSAK (thank you GSAK and the MACRO writers!) and it ran flawlessly and loaded a gpx file onto the colorado simply and they came right up no problem. VERY SLICK! Wondering about the backlighting and hoping it's a battery issue - semi dead batteries in use while waiting for recharge on the others. It is a tad dark though isn't it? Quote Link to comment
Team Chinook
nobody else w/ flaky usb connection issues? How about the Oregon folks? I want to log my find and DNF from this morning and I'm not getting the connection to stay up. Very disappointing to say the least. Quote Link to comment
twolpert
I have not seen any other reports of this particular problem. It really sounds like a cable issue, although I suppose it could be the unit itself. You're probably going to have to call Garmin tech support or take advantage of REI's return policies to swap the unit. Quote Link to comment
g-o-cashers
I've heard of at least one similar problem with the Colorado. In that case it was remedied by a replacement from Garmin. I would call about an RMA. GO$Rs Quote Link to comment
Team Chinook
I returned it to REI today. Stopped by two Walmarts, but they don't carry anything by Nuvis, so I ordered one online from Walmart (15 day return policy on GPS) which is $50 cheaper than REI's sale price and anything else I found in the Internet. Fingers crossed the next one is free from USB issues and fingers crossed Garmin plans on really supporting the Colorado and Oregon... Quote Link to comment
RonFisk
I had that exact same problem with one of my earlier Colorados. (I've had five!) I returned it to Garmin and they replaced it for me. I've had number five for about 2 months and it seems OK so far... Quote Link to comment
qlenfg
I've noted this on my Colorado a couple of times, as well as a few other USB devices. I've found its better to plug the device into the cable, then plug the cable into the PC. Quote Link to comment
