OESgeo4Fun Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Hi All, I am having a major problem and I am hoping someone here can HELP!! I have 2 Garmins. 360csx and the Etrex HCX. I went in to try to load a route of caches last night and after making a pocket query in GSAK I tried to load them into the gps. Nothing happens.. It kept saying that it was successful but there was nothing in either gps. I tried a different computer. Tried loading caches individually from the geocaching.com website. Nothing happens.. I finally tried a new usb cord. It still says the writing to the gps was successful. Still nothing is happening? I have been loading caches for the past 2 months. I was trying to load my cache for that first milestone 50th cache. Does anyone have any idea of what happened or what I could have done or better yet HOW to fix it? Thank you, OesGeo4Fun Quote
JPatton Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 They are probably there. Is the route far from your current location? Your gps will only show caches that are somewhat close (about 100 miles) to your current location. Search for the caches by name and you should see them. Quote
Lasagna Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 Like the previous poster said, try switching to "By name" instead of "Nearest" and see if you see anything. From screen where the caches would display, select Menu, and change to "Find by Name". Are you using the Find Geocache Icon or the Find Waypoint icon? If you're using the "Geocache" icon, try using the "Find" then "Waypoints" instead -- perhaps your using symbols from GSAK (so your waypoints show up as little icons representing the type of cache) and in that method the "Geocache" mode doesn't work. +OESgeo4Fun Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 Thank you. As silly as it seemed... I didn't realize that even if they were listed by name. I would only see the GZ's that were close to me at the present time. I found them on the etrex hcx.. I will check the 360csx in just a short while... Sorry for being such an airhead. Quote
team_schaefer Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) Hey I have an additional question for loading cache coordinates to GPS! I have downloaded the cache coordinates from geocaching, and now I have them I GSAK. I have also succeded tranfering them to my GPS with correct naming. But some of them have children ( Parking coordinates and additional waypoints ). How can I get these additional coordinates into my GSP together with the cache coordinates (using GSAK) ? It is important that the naming of there additional koordinates also contains the GC-number and the cache name, to be able to select the right coordinates later. My GPS is a Garmin 60csx Edited July 6, 2008 by team_schaefer Quote
Miragee Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 When you send the Waypoints to your GPSr, there is an option to send the Child Waypoints at the same time. You will see those on the Map Screen, but they won't be in the list of Geocaches. They will be in the Waypoint list. You'll have to look for them there to do a "Go To," or do a "Go To" from the waypoint you see on the map. Quote
