EmYanks2001
Hi. I just recently found out about geocaching, probably the hard way. I found one, without looking for one, or even knowing what it was. I'm not going to give out the location here, cuz I don't wanna give anything away to those still searching, but what do I do now/??? It was a green tube looking thing, and it said "Do not remove geocaching.com". My dad and I thought it might have been some government thing so we were afraid to do anything with it, until I curiously checked out the website. So I didn't really get a good look at this. I'll probably will be going back on Sunday, if not sooner. Was I supposed to get some number off of it, or something??? I'm realllly confused..... Quote Link to comment
+MarshMonsters
If you remember the name of the cache you can do a search in your area and look for it. If not when you go back write down the GC# so you can log it. The front page has a spot where you can do a quick search using the GC#. On the cache page there is a box on the upper right hand corner. Click on "log this cache". Welcome to Geocaching. It is a fun sport/addiction! Quote Link to comment
+The Geos
The object of geocaching is locate a cache, after finding the cache you can sign the log that is inside of the cache. Also, if there are items in the cache you can trade another item for one you want. After signing the log, you then need to log your find in the geocaching website. You can find the name or cache id on the log book most of the time. If there is no name on the cache or the log, you can still locate the cache name from the website. We actually got into geocaching the same way by accidentally finding one 4 years ago. Since then we have been caching and having a great time. Quote Link to comment
EmYanks2001
k, so when i go back, I just open it and I should find the logbook??? Ok, sounds good.... If I have any more questions (which I'm sure I will) i'll be back.... I wanna get my sister involved too, as she enjoys treasure hunting type things.... I also think this would make great exercise as a lot of them look like you have to hike to find them.... At the very least, it will get me off my lazy but from the couch, lol.... ANyways, I should be going back sunday, so i'll let everyone know how it goes.... Thanx for your help guys. Quote Link to comment
+PrincessBTigress
You can still find it on the website to log it without knowing the name. Click on "Hide or seek a cache" in the upper left corner of geocaching.com, scroll down a bit and choose "search with google maps" then enter in your location (zip code or town) and it will bring up a map with every cache in that area. Look in the area of the cache you found and you'll be able to see it going by the map of the area you were in. Quote Link to comment
