GSAK to GPS

When downloading waypoints from GSAK to GPS (Garmin Venture) I get this message:

GPS packet read timeout

Garmin:Can't init. COM1

 

My device manager says my computer has COM1

The database is very short.

GPS says it is connected.

Using USB port.

 

Any suggestions??

I have a few suggestions:

 

First, I suggest that you only post a thread to one section of the forums. These forums are very active. People will see your post.

 

Second, a good resource for gsak problems is the GSAK forums at GSAK.net.

 

Third, do you use a pda?

 

The original etrex Venture used a serial interface. I assume that you are making the connection using a USB/Serial pigtail. I suspect that you will need to temporarily disable hotsyncing from the hot sync manager in your toolbar.
