Accents are refused

Accents are refused in Description fields.

 

They are accepted however in the

Starting Location Description field of the cartridge,

as opposed the Description field of the sane screen.

 

Until they are accepted in all Description fields,

including those of each individual zone,

we can't build a cartridge in all areas using

languages that need accents and special characters,

such as é, à, è, ĉ. ç. î. ï for example, and even '

 

I don't see many Where I Go tours and GeoCaches

appearing in Quebec and Europe, for example, until this is fixed.

 

In French, for example, it's not possible to write without apostrophes (')

and very hard to write, and worst to read, without accents,

as an e without an accent can make a word have a slightly

or totally different meaning.

it's not that bad in German - we are quite used to use e.g. ue as a replacement for ü, etc. Still I agree with blackjack65 that this is an issue to be solved.

I will log this in our system so that we don't forget about this. Right now, we filter out characters above ascii 127.
