+The BickerMores
I'm sorry if this has been explained before but I couldn't find an answer anywhere. I want to change my geo name, do I create a new account and relog all my finds? Thanks for any input. Link to comment

+StarBrand
Due to a recent feature change to our website, we now have the ability to grant username changes under qualifying circumstances. Approvals of username changes are at the discretion of Groundspeak, Inc. and need to comply with the Terms of Use listed here: http://www.geocaching.com/about/termsofuse.aspx. Please ensure the username is available before making the request via a search using this page: http://www.geocaching.com/email. If your search comes up empty, then the username is available. Note: It is not necessary to create an account using the intended username. We'll do that. If the username already exists and has ever been validated, or the username has been used in any way, then the username is not available. The request for a username change needs to be made from the email address in your account profile and sent to contact@Groundspeak.com. Provide the current username as well as the requested new username. Please make sure you specify the exact spelling, spacing and capitalization for your new username. Better than the link..... +Whittling Fisher
I have been thinking about changing my username (mainly because it isn't something you can easily say when someone asks you what your name is). I lookedat another topic (http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=187133), and know how to change it, I just have some questions about what will happen when I do. 1- Will my name change in logs that I have written for previously found caches (or will the old name still be there, or will the old name remain along with a duplicate log for the new name)? 2- Will the data (# found, hidden, etc) stay the same for the new name? 3- Will the old username and profile be deleted after the new one is created? I guess I am just curious if there are any weird side effects to changing your username or if it causes any problems. I didn't put much thought into my name at first and just used a username I was using for email at school. I'll make sure not to make that mistake again. Thanks for any help and suggestions Link to comment
+DaFunkyFrogs
From what I've read in other threads, there doesn't seem to be any odd side effects from changing your user name. Everything is changed over: posts, logs, stats etc. Nothing left of the old name. I could be wrong, but that is what I have understood. Link to comment
+Blaidd-Drwg
I recently changed my name so that folks would stop calling me a Mad Dog. Yes, when you follow the procedures specified, all your on-line logs, travel items, forum entries and such will change. You will have to manually go in and change the hider name on any of your own caches hidden. What won't happen is the physical logs. Unfortunately, they will still show your old name.
