Thought I would give Garmin a chance and instead of getting my money back I thought I'd try a replacement unit. It worked for 1 day, now when I turn it on it goes dead after 10 seconds. Tried new batteries, resetting it.............nothing. ( the first unit did random shutdowns )

Bummer. You sure you're not kin to Mavis? <grin>

Mine has worked pretty well since the 2.4 firmware update, and I'm looking forward to them correcting even more issues in the next update.

If you can, why not post your serial numbers so if these units turn up as refurbs the new owner will know what he's got.

I had that happen and solved it by doing a hard reset. Hold both soft keys down and turn the unit on.

You do lose all your setting by doing this, but it fixed it for me.

thanks I'll try that. Hopefully it doesn't happen often.............it's a real pain to reset everything.
