TB 2 Tokyo japan

I just got my first TB and i want to send it to tokyo Japan.

 

Im kinda at a lost to know how to start it really.

 

Should i send a discription of my goals translated in japanes?

 

What are some tips on making its trip go faster?

 

Is there anything i should know about sending TBs overseas?

Most Japanese learn English in school, many countries do. Online translators might not translate it correctly, turning a line like "Please take this travel bug to famous Japanese attractions" into "This crawling insect please to like celebrities in Japan" or something.

You should attach something that won't ruin your life if it goes missing.

You should attach a goal sheet, laminated to protect it, to the TB.

You should not make the goal so specific that it can't be met.

You should be prepared for it to move slowly, or so fast you have to give it a new goal in 3 months.

You should not post any photos of the tracking number on the tag anywhere, so people who don't see the bug in person can't log it virtually.

If you don't want the bug mailed, or taken to events, or to travel bug hotels, or anything specific like that, mention it on your TB page.

You should not have great expectations from people, everyone caches differently, some every day, some once every 3 months.

You may send friendly, polite emails to people after they have held your bug for over 3 weeks, and ask how it's doing. But never pester, you don't what their life is like, and there's no reason to make people feel guilty over a game.

If you go to the "Hide & Seek a Cache" page, and search by country for Japan, you see that English seems actually the predominate language for geocaching in Japan. I think it would be a nice touch to have the goals in both English and Japanese, but it looks like you could get by fine with an English only description/goals if you don't write Japanese or have a good (human) translator. An online translator would yield bad results.

Yep. You could try finding a bilingual cacher owner and see if they would be willing to do a translation. I think it would be polite to at least have something in Japanese.

 

You could given mail the the bug to them if you wanted to start it over there.
