+neat_guy
Please tell me I'm assuming wrong... From what I've gathered on the Garmin 60 csx, the supplied usb cable will only provide garmins format as an output source. If I want the NMEA, I have to use the serial port??? I've been flailing about in garmins support website and I'm lucky I found my way back here! Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Your wrong. You can change the output setting via the menu. Quote Link to comment
robertlipe
You can change the output of the serial port between PVT ("Garmin protocol") and NMEA. Garmin's USB offers only PVT on the wire, though there are some software workarounds to that to make it look like NMEA. http://www.gpsfaqs.org/faqs/garmin/xseries...king.html#other Quote Link to comment
Smac999
the free program garmin "spanner" should help you if you are feeding a computer. I think it works with the 60 series. didn't work my my vista. if you are trying to feed something other then a computer, you'd probably have to buy the serial cable. +neat_guy
Thanks all. I'm gonna try "spanner" this evening and see where it gets me. I am working with a 60csx and a laptop with no serial ports. Hopefully this will do the trick. 'nuther offer for help... All three programs I want to try this out on only list "com" ports in the gps settings. From my experience, "com" ports refer to serial connections and not usb, hopefully this program takes that into account and my pc will find the signal. If anyones tried this before, I would love to here your experiences before something catches fire! Quote Link to comment
+neat_guy
Thanks folks, the spanner program worked on two of my three applications. I think I have an issue with the gps interface on the third. All in all, a success. Quote Link to comment
