+Insp Gadget
Whenever I select the "Check for software updates" in Mapsource, I get the error: "There was an error communicating with the Garmin update server. Please retry your update If you continue to experience problems please contact Garmin support". I sent a email to Garmin support over a month ago and didn't hear anything back from them. It's not a big deal as I just go to their site and check the newest version but I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this? Quote Link to comment
+Styk
You are not alone, I think had this a while back then after downloading the next update and appling it manually it seemed to be fixed but it's back again. Quote Link to comment
Motorcycle_Mama
Oh, that never works. Go to Garmin's website and download the updates directly. Quote Link to comment
gmehojah
Does the update just update the software itself, or also the maps? Quote Link to comment

gmehojah
This is why NG Topo is so much better. Quote Link to comment
SergZak
Same problem here. I'd say the Mapsource internal updater works 25% of the time, if that. I don't know why they implement these "live" updaters if they can't get the software/servers to operate correctly. WebUpdater has been notorious for updating errors (this has been pretty much corrected) but is the only way to update your GPS chipset firmware (different than the unit software). I just stick with the downloadable updates like I've been doing for years now. Quote Link to comment
strumble
I always view and select items I want from here:- http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=209 Quote Link to comment
+BlurplexOK
I always save it to a Folder in My Doucuments that I named Garmin and then just double click on it and it downloads right away. I haven't had any problems ever since I started doing it that way. Quote Link to comment
