cach lover
Are travel bugs weldable? I want to know before I try it. The only reason I want to weld it is because in order to get the tag & it's chain to stay on is to poke a hole in the waterproof case it's going to be attached to. How about soldering? Will that melt it? I don't know what these things are made of. Thanks Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
No, I wouldn't weld them. Solder? yes. I like to know more about what you are doing, but have you read this thread? Attaching Travel bug tags securely? A couple options there but if doesn't do it I'd like to know more about what you are trying to use for a traveler. Quote Link to comment
+EScout
The tags are aluminum, so no welding or soldering. I would suggest using epoxy putty like 2-part J-B Weld Kwik (4 minute set.) This would be good for metal, and wood containers (it will stick to glass but we do not use glass for containers.) Another thing to try is a polyurethane glue like Elmers Ultimate or Gorilla Glue. What is the material of your container? Quote Link to comment
+dhenninger
Welding Aluminum is entirely possible with the correct equipment and a trained welder. That being said, it is prob. easier to use another method of attachment as others have mentioned. Quote Link to comment
