GreatCanadian
Yep, the gps will do it. In the meantime there are plenty of websites such as this one http://www.directionsmag.com/latlong.php that will convert for you. However, when doing it this way it's always a possibility of a typing error. Better to let the gps do it. Quote Link to comment
dogwalkers2
Or just take the ss.ssss and divide by 60 to get the .mmm (the part after the decimal). Any ol' calculator will do... Quote Link to comment
+Thrak
GeoCalc is a great little program that you can download for free. It does coordinate conversions as well as other functions and is so easy that anybody can use it. Quote Link to comment
+JerBear-Lizard
cake. save Google Earth points as a KML file. search Internet to get "GPSbabel" (it's free) use the GPSBabelGUI tool to convert from kml to gdb (mapsource) no typing needed. Quote Link to comment

robertlipe
Or use Earth 4.2 and in preferences->3D view, choose "Degrees, decimal minutes" to match what this site and most GPSes use by default. Quote Link to comment

+The Pines People_Sue
Thank-you Thrak....and now after reading that, it doesn't make any sense. Not your fault....it's a miscommunication I'm having with a surveyor. My son wants to locate two steaks on a piece of property he is buying. The surveyor gave him the coords. We put them in the gsp but it's showing way off. That doesn't show any North or West......is that normal? Geesh..... Sue:) Quote Link to comment
+The Pines People_Sue
46.5564379-66.1367543 46.55660695-66.135998 When I enter these numbers like that one at a time, into google earth it takes me right to the property in question. I want to convert the Google Earth waypoints to something I can put into Mapsource. Thanks! Maybe I'm missing something but... I think the easy answer to the OP's question would be use Mapsource... just go into "Edit/Preferences/Position (tab)" and change the grid units to DDD MM SS.SSSS. Then you can enter the coords directly into Mapsource without converting. Quote Link to comment

Yes, I am in Fredericton and the surveyor also from Fredericton, gave me the coords. It didn't seem right but google took me right to the property, however, my son is out there gpsing in the wrong direction, haha. I'm pretty burnt out and computer/gps/can't talk the lingo sick right now. Sorry to bother anyone. I......think I'm giving up. Again, thanks:) Quote Link to comment
