Auto GPS portable

Recommended Posts

If you can enter a waypoint or a custom point of interest that you can navigate to, then it can be used. Many auto GPS units are not as rugged as handheld units so may not be suitable for hiking in the woods. Do a search of the forum for the word "crossover" and you'll find discussions of units that supposedly do both reasonably well.

The Garmin Quest and Quest 2 work very well both in the car and for geocaching, although there are better units for either use alone. Remarkably, it has been many years since any new suitable dual use GPSr has been released. The Quest was a significant upgrade to the GPS V, which was the only GPS specifically designed and intended to be used both in the car and on the trail.

Tom Tom ONE works well, too!

You're better than me !

I have a Go 510, never found a single cache with it.

I recently invested in a Garmin 60CSx and start finding some.

Money well spent, because now I have access to maps & support from the 2 biggest GPS companies in the world, not counting freeware. :(
