baseline coordinates

I have had several caches that call for baseline coordinates for towns from geocaching.com. How do I obtain this information?

Thank you for your help

Mapmakers have to decide on a single set of coordinates to represent a town or city. They usually choose the center of the downtown business district (for big cities), or a courthouse, post office, or town square.

If you go to the Search by State box on the main geocaching page, you can select a state to search. From that page, you can select a city. Once the caches for the city are displayed, you'll see the coordinates it's using as the city center at the top of the page.

I have had several caches that call for a search in "one of the usual places." I've looked in stumps, along fallen trees, and in piles of rocks. How do I find these caches? Please tell me where the caches are.

You have asked question of great relevance to me. Please forward any and all answers received to me immediately. Thank you in advance for doing the needful.

Vinny, I've already received a PM from BrianSnat with the answer.

Sometimes, trees are hollow, while they are still standing. I never knew that. Anyways, Brian says to look for a hole in such a tree. The cache is inside the hole!

How clever. I bet my DNF rate will drop down from 30% to 8% almost immediately.

Well, so there you have a classic example of diametrically opposed opinions about giving away the "trick" to solving a puzzle cache in the forums. :)

This is a basic system function concerning something that's already been answered in the forums dozens of times, when people want to know about distance discrepancies when they've only use a ZIP code for their home coordinates.

Just because someone decides to use it as part of a puzzle doesn't suddenly put a veil of secrecy over it. They should have thought of puzzle that hadn't already been explained in the forums many times over.

Oh, and when you get to the lamp post, just lift the skirt. :)
