  1. Had several units sent into Garmin. Both times my fault. It took 7-10 days total turn around time from when I sent it, to when I got it back. They sent me a refurb unit back both times. The units were in much better shape than the units I sent in. Just like getting a new unit.
  2. I can usually lock onto 41 also. I have not been able to yet. I have not given it significant sky time though. maybe tomorrow.
  3. I had the same thing when I updated. No WAAS. I always got a quick WAAS before. I emailed Garmin yesterday. No response yet but it is the weekend. I went back and checked settings. WAAS was off. I turned it back on and locked onto 51
  4. I had the same thing when I updated. No WAAS. I always got a quick WAAS before. I emailed Garmin yesterday. No response yet but it is the weekend.
  5. I also own an Oregon and use it for both. I have 2 completely different profiles set up in my Oregon. One I use exclusively for road travel with one set of maps lock on road, auto navigation, routing by road etc. The other I have set up with geocaching dashboard, topo maps, pedestrian travel, no lock on roads etc.. You can also do paperless caching and field notes with the Oregon. tarbaL
  6. Oregon 400T I do not know if it is associated with this one or the last beta but I now have an accuracy issue. I will be close to the cache and walking towards it.. I can stop then move 15-20 feet and the GPS does not show that I moved at all. It also has not been as accurate as it once was. It used to point me directly at the cache (within reason) now it does not. I thought it was a fluke at first but it has now done this on numerous caches. It is not the fact that I am staying the same distance from the cache site in a circle either. I have eliminated that variable. Anyone else see this? tarbaL
  7. I have had the same issue on my 400. It happens when the map goes to full screen and then comes back.
  8. I made one for my house. It sits against the wall. We call it the magical gremlin door. Anything suspicious that goes wrong we know the gremlin did it.
  9. Did the same thing on my 400. Ended up sending it to Garmin. The file is very large so they will not send it by email . When I got it back I promptly made a copy on my computer. tarbaL
  10. It has been awhile since I have used my rhino. I now have an Oregon. I believe that you can either directly load coordinates off the web sites one at a time or you can do a pocket query and load up to 500 at once with Mapsource or gsak using a gpx file. It should load the names and coordinates into the unit. You may be able to directly load the gpx file but I did not do it this way. I do not remember why. tarbaL
  11. Contact Garmin you may be pleasantly surprised. They replaced a unit of mine that I had worn out a rubber button. The unit was 4+ years old. It can not hurt to try. They may send you a new cover.
  12. Have to give Garmin high praise. I had a unit that was 5 plus years old. I just wore the rubber button out and the unit had been through the wringer numerous times. Dropped scratched used abused etc. Garmin evaluated and sent me a new/reconditioned unit for free. The whole transaction took less than a week. The only thing it cost me was shipping the unit to them. I had a button clip break on a unit after 5 plus years. I wanted to purchase a new one. They sent me a new button and clip in under 5 days for free. I did not even pay shipping. They have also helped me on software issues. Highly recommend Garmin tarbaL
  13. Yes there is a way to do it using GSAK. I used to do this before I got my Oregon. I do not remember exactly how to do it. There is a Macro in GSAK that will place the caches in the notes section of your ipod. Hope this points you in the right direction. tarbal
  14. Did you just turn the unit on? Sometimes it takes a while to get the most accurate bearings (3-5 minutes). If I reset or do any updates I let my unit set for at least 20 minutes to half an hour before I will use it. After that it is just a quick stat up and go. Did you happen to see the accuracy reading to make sure you had a good lock? This sounds like it is off a lot. I have never had my Oregon been off by that much. I am usually within 10-15 feet of the cache at most.
  15. Did you have it in automotive mode and locked on road? This one always gets me when I forget to change profiles.
  16. Do you have the brightness turned up on the Oregon?? The screen looks much duller than mine when I turn it up. tarbal
  17. Go to the following link and it will have all your answers an more. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/ tarbal
  18. Sorry can not help you. Oregon with over 200 finds and love it. It has bee dropped on cement, Dropped on rocks several times, fell in a river with me and still works flawlessly.
  19. I take mine out snowshoeing/winter geocaching. I have not noticed a difference below freezing. I have not taken it out below 0 yet.
  20. I automatically get a notification. Log in then click on your name to bring up your profile. On the right hand side click on notifications. You can then set which notifications you want.
  21. When you load with GSAK all you corrected coordinates for puzzle caches are automatically on your unit. It also lets me manipulate and load certain type of caches if needed. Sometimes I use sometimes I do not. It is not needed if you just want a straigt PQ.
  22. When you send your waypoints with GSAK uncheck the box on the right hand side that says "Clear GPS before sending". This should do it. Make sure you clear your GPS every so often. The Oregon has a 200 gpx file limit or 200 caches.
  23. Do you have your road lock on? I keep it on on my automotive profile and off for my Geocaching profile.
