Garmin 60cs v. Legend cx/ Venture cx

Recommended Posts

If you really mean the 60 cs, then there are several differences. Most important is that the 60cs does not have a removable micro sd card. You are limited to 56MB of memory. There are other differences (60 is larger, has a quad helix antenna, etc.).

If you mean the 60csx (which has expandable memory like the other cx units), the main difference is that the 60CSx has the SiRF III processor chip, which greatly improves reception in marginal situatoins, such as under tree cover and canyons, concrete or natural. Again, the 60 is larger, etc.)

Ventiure, Legend, and Vista (all CX) are the same unit, with added features as you go up the line. Venture = Base, Legend comes with an SD card (Venture + card = Legend), Vista has Magnetic compass and barometric altitude (works without use of SATS).

New (yet to be released ) Etrex series "H" for high sensitivity GPS system.

Mono Etrex units without the sd slot have no letters after the name (legend vs legend cx)

60 Series: C = Color Display, S = Sensor (see Vista), X = External Memory Slot. Unit is sold with CS CSX CX ...

Thank you for the help

I am looking at either an "older" 60cs (not csx) or a new legend/venture. They seem to be similarly priced, which is why I was curious if there were any major differences between the lines.

For example, does the 60cs have better reception than the others?

I currently have a mag 300, so I'm unfamiliar with the garmin line.
