  1. Oops. My bad. This is an interesting tidbit from the Shah Capital page: BTW, Orbital is another great company...if anyone needs a rocket, that is. And they have one of the coolest stock certificates around.
  2. Based upon this perspective, as well as other comments on the board, I chose a Garmin over a Magellan. The theme of the thread is spot on: for Thales, the handheld GPSr market is not a big deal, thus there is little incentive to develop, produce, and maintain high value/quality products. What really convinced me was a look at Thale's website and investor relations page.
  3. What's odd about that? Garmin's website also prices the Vista (and Legend) CX and HCX the same. They appear to be pricing the "H" models the same as their predecessor. I hope that remains true. Its odd because if a company is selling a widget for $5, and is rolling out a brand new widgetplus for $5, why would anyone buy the original widget? Y'know, the whole supply/demand thing. Makes more sense if the HCX does not come with a SD card. Even with that, if the HCX is priced the same as the CX, then the CX prices should fall dramatically in the next few months.
  4. I'd help you out, too, but I'm also a cub scout leader and am trying to collect units for my pack. Good luck.
  5. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...fromZR40QQfviZ1 I've got to say, this is one of my pet peeves. The item is not "new"; you took it out of the package and turned it on. That's "used," even if ever so slightly. "New" means I'm getting a warranty with it. That said, I'm the 60csx seems to have a pretty high resale value on ebay.
  6. You just have to do your homework and if you don't feel comfortable with the seller, then don't buy. I've bought and traded cigars on a cigar board for 6 or 7 years now, and have always gotten more than I bargained for. I've bought and sold telescopes on a telescope board and everything worked out OK. I've bought and sold concert tickets on a Buffett board and never been burned. I would not hesitate to buy or sell on this board...although, like I said, you need to do your homework. Many times if I'm doing a trade or sale with someone new, I'll ask for their name and Google it. You can also Google someone's email addy. And you will notice that some sellers also post their ebay handle, which is helpful. BTW, my wife still thinks that I'm crazy for buying and trading on internet forums. She is always amazed that I don't get screwed, and asks the same question as you.
  7. For the record, the Magellan 500 does not have a compass...the 600 does. And I'm really starting to wonder if Magellan has any legs in the handheld GPS niche.
  8. This is not just fadfusion.com, but everywhere. I initially called tigergps asking when they were expecting this bundle in stock, and they originally said mid-June and then said they have no idea. So I found a seller on ebay who was selling these. I emailed him twice, specifically asking if he had the Adventure Bundle. He said yes. I did not receive the bundle, but simply the 500LE. I have also been contacted by another buyer from the same seller who had the same thing happen....ordered the bundle and got the 500LE only. According to the seller, the dropshipper made an error. What really appears to have happened, though, is that these sellers think that the dropshippers have the item, but the reality is that there are no more Adventure Bundles left. And the seller I purchased from? A powerseller with a 99.7% positive rating who would answer my emails within minutes? I have not heard from him since I requested a refund. I would suggest that you rename the title and add in "Magellan 500LE Adventure Bundle" so potential buyers like you and I look here and question ANY seller that says they have this item in stock.
  9. I find it odd that offroute has the CX and HCX listed at the same price.
  10. Has anyone ever used offroute.com? I notice that the price for the legend CX and HCX is the same...same for the vista CX and HCX. Are you telling me that they are going to price the HCX line the exact same as the older CX line?
  11. The Explorist 500LE that I just received did not have the $9.99 offer
  12. I would suggest that you go to ebay and see what they are selling for there. If you run a search on ebay for "completed items" for a 60c you can see what they are selling for. I ran a search and apparently there are alot of refirbished 60c's for sale for between $170-$200 (which come with a 1 yr warranty). Many of the used ones come with maps, at about $175. One used unit without maps sold for $140. Since its your unit and your money, though, I would suggest that you do your own research and not rely on Mr. Anonymous Internet Poster.
  13. I received an email from a cop a couple of weeks ago asking about a camera in a tin can a "concerned citizen" had turned into the police. Apparently, this "concerned citizen" found a cache, which has my "Picture This" TB in it (which does have a camera). Thank goodness that the cop was nice enough to look through the log book and find my email. I tried to explain to him what geocaching is, but I think he thinks I'm a nut. Unfortunately, the cache owner has had a hard time contacting the officer and getting the cache back.
  14. Thank you for the help I am looking at either an "older" 60cs (not csx) or a new legend/venture. They seem to be similarly priced, which is why I was curious if there were any major differences between the lines. For example, does the 60cs have better reception than the others? I currently have a mag 300, so I'm unfamiliar with the garmin line.
  15. My understanding is that the Legend cx and Venture cx are the same unit, but the Legend comes with different accesories, correct? Is there any appreciable difference between the Legend cx / Venture cx and the 60 cs? Thanks
