gcfishguy
Looking to make a purchase in the next few hours, depending on the answer to one simple question... On a Legend CX, can you overcome the 500 waypoint limit by storing more waypoints on the card? If I could get a definate answer to that, I'm off to the races... On a side note - If so, is it a simple matter, or is there more to it? If there is more to, it, does someone have a link to a how-to? I know I saw someone say something about overcoming that 500 limit in a post that i read a while back, but, search as I might, I can't seem to find it. Thanks!! <>< Quote Link to comment
Sputnik 57
Waypoints are limited to 500. The work around is to create custom points of interest (POIs). They are limited only be the amount of memory on the card. Quote Link to comment
2Wheel'in
That's correct...use Garmin's POI Loader to "crunch" the .gpx files into .poi files and put them on the mini-SD card. Here's a link to some helpful forum info: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...11&t=140808 Bill Quote Link to comment
gcfishguy
Excellent. Many thanks to you both. I found a store in Quebec (I'm in NB) selling the CX with the 64MB card for 199. (Canadian) Taxes, shipped, etc it comes to $228.36 (Canadian). I don't think I'll do better than that..... Quote Link to comment
fratermus
On a Legend CX, can you overcome the 500 waypoint limit by storing more waypoints on the card? As the others said, you can store Custom POI on the card. If you keep your POI in seperate files, they will show up in the GPSr in named categories (based on the filenames). I find this to be useful. I should point out that you can *store* waypoints on the card (put them there) but the GPSr doesn't look for them there so it would just be for safekeeping, transport, or backup purposes.
