+JohnTee Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 In creating an event cache, I included links to 'watch listing' and 'log visit' in the short description. I was fine for less than 500 characters . . . until I went back in to edit the long description. While I was away, the system added the following to my HTML links, "rel="nofollow", including the "" marks. Now, this had added 15 characters to each link and the 60 extra characters has thrown me over the limit. It's frustrating to get everything under the 500 character mark and then get kicked out the next time I go in to edit. I guess I'm going to have to go to Tiny URL or Snip URL and get shortened URL's so I don't keep getting kicked over. Any other suggestions? Just venting . . . JohnTee
+StarBrand Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 HTML tidy does its thing - just keep it around 450 and you will usually be ok. Or move more to the long description. Short is mainly for terrain, cache size and similar short snippets.
+alexrudd Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 You can edit them out again, right? HTMLTidy is annoying, but preventing link spam is a hard beast to handle.
+Lil Devil Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 (edited) This makes me wonder why we still have a short and a long description. It used to be that they were displayed slightly differently on the cache page, but not any more. Now they are just displayed one after another. At one time there used to be three separate fields in one's profile, but they were combined recently into one big field. Maybe it's time to do this with cache descriptions?
