+AtwellFamily
To start with I have a 60CSx that for the most part will get to 13-14+- accuracy at most caches. I have found a few caches in the last month or so that are off by some 30ft. How do I search for such a cache that is not close to the coordinates? A few I have walked away from frustrated a few I have found by pure luck. Quote Link to comment
+gof1
If your GPSr is off 15 feet one way, and the hiders was off 15 feet the other way, it isn't unusual to find the cache 30 feet from where you think it should be. When you get that close stop looking at the GPSr and start looking for good hiding spots. Quote Link to comment
+nameless301
Since you have to 60 csx you are most likely going to have a more accurate single than those that placed the cache. The person who placed the cache could have placed it with a cheaper model GPS so they would have had a good signal but probably not as accurate as yours. Once you get close your best bet is to just looking for good hiding places (ie stumps, piles of rocks, logs, etc) I hope it gets easier for you and good luck. Quote Link to comment
Neos2
And to be honest, if you went back another day, you might find that the coords posted for the cache match the coords showing on your gps more closely. That is just the way is goes. Thirty feet is nothing to fret over. I don't really worry until I cna't find it within about 50 feet. Most of the time, though, I'm within about 20 feet, no matter which gps I use. (I have a Legend, a 76CS, and a 60CSx). Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Yep. It's "Cachers Eye" or "Where would I hide it?" syndrome. Once you get to within 20 feet, don't rely on the GPSr -look with you eyes! However, some hides can be rather devious, and not so obviuos -part of the fun of Geocaching! G Quote Link to comment
