Hey all,

 

This is my first post on Geocaching.com and there will be more to come.

 

I've been reading up for a while now on Geocaching and I am about to buy a "entry" GPSr unit.

I am going to purchase the Garmin eTrex Venture Cx. This unit seems to have everything I need

to start off with.

 

I am located in Canada and I was goign to order the Venture from GPS Central. http://www.gpscentral.ca

Has anyone delt with this company or have any feed back before I place my order?

 

Also do most people also get a compass for geocaching or just use the GPSr?

My choice is to carry maps and non-electronic compass if going deep backwoods, neither if doing urban or rural. YMMV

GPSCentral is top notch and you'll never hear a complaint from anyone.

 

The Venture Cx is a great choice and definitely Garmin's best bang for the buck handheld.

 

Where are you located? You may be able to find a friendly local cacher that will donate their stock micro-SD card.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm located in Ottawa, Ontario.

 

I'll be placing my order on GPSCentral tonight for my GPSr. If anyone is in the Ottawa area drop me a line, it's always nice to hear from locals and get tips.
