+darylt
Someone in the GPS forum has been trying to help me with this with no luck Does anyone know of a UK supplier of a Serial to USB lead that definately works with Garmin GPS? Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
I have the Keyspan USB to serial adaptor, fits the Garmin serial part of the lead and connects to USB port... However, I use it on a Mac via USB -doesn't seem to work on USB on K's PC, so connect via serial port on that... (It is an old PC!) G Quote Link to comment
+Jonovich
Thanks for the help getting the Garmin eTrex working better, now can anyone help me connect my new foretrex 101? Have you tried PC-Mobile? They have some listed here. EDIT - although having just checked, they don't list the Foretrex as being compatible with their USB to Serial kit... Sorry... +NinjaPete
The adapter I have I got from globalpositioningsystems which works with my Legend and Foretrex 101. I use it to communicate with GSAK and Memory Map and I remember having the same connection problems at the start. When you get the error message in GSAK ' Can't open Com ....' , check to see what port the Device Manager has assigned the cable and change GSAK to suit. Close the programme and re-open it and hopefully they should sinc. I also have to make sure I plug the cable into the same physical port on my laptop everytime otherwise I get the error message. Hope this helps. Quote Link to comment
