andman
I get MUCH better reception on my 60Cx when I plug my $20 Gilsson into it, but I was wondering if there are any downfalls? I run my 60Cx off battery power, does the Gilsson antenna use a lot of power? Is it going to kill the batteries considerably faster? Quote Link to comment
+Sputnik 57
I really don't notice an appreciable degradation in battery power when I use a Gilsson antenna with my 60C. Quote Link to comment

I guess you have to remove the magnets if you use the compass. I wonder if you keep the antenna in the same place relative to the GPS, can you calibrate out the effects of the magnet. The magnet in the straight connector model seems very strong. I was thinking of putting a metal plate in my pack or hat. Time to experiment, I guess. DaveInWNC
Several months ago I ran some battery tests with my 60CSx. Using freshly charged 2500 mAh NiMH batteries, I got 18h29m on the internal antenna, 17h09m on a Gilsson external. Quote Link to comment
