  1. Nope, it stays greyed out even when maps are highlighted.
  2. Thanks for the reply.I have all the maps saved on my hard drive, it's still greyed out. I have downloaded maps from Mapsource to my GPSMAP 60Cx and it seems to autoroute just fine. I'm curious as to why it's greyed out and if I am missing something that I need.
  3. I just bought Mapsource City Navigator North America NT v8. 1) When I go to the "About Mapsource" page it says "Version 6.11.5". Is that right? Should I be worried? 2) The "Include Route Calculation Data" box is greyed out (it can't be clicked) but the box is empty (there is no check mark in it). What is that about? Thanks!
  4. I've been to multiple Targets, Walmarts, Radio Shacks, Circuit Citys, and Best Buys. I can't find that button mount anywhere! The closest I could find is one made out of steel that is made for CB radio microphones, but it doesn't fit right.
  5. Nope. Actually, if you have all of your other waypoints marked with the same symbol, you can have the waypoint list show only that symbol. From the waypoint list, hit MENU>>Show Symbol and select the symbol you want it to show. Obviously, you don't select the closed treasure chest! More in question 6 of the Waypoints Section of the FAQ. Excellent! Thanks for pointing that out, it's perfect! I mark all my personal Waypoints with the same default icon so I could just choose that. Thanks again!
  6. Magellan is way more accurate in my expirience. I do not understand why this would be a joke, seeing as a standard explorist is 14 channel and WAAS enabled while a standard garmin is 12 channel and not WAAS enabled. I went caching with my 600 and my friend's 60CSx. The magelland got me right on top of the cache, and the 60CSx had me about 10 feet off. I don't know what you mean by a "standard" Garmin not being WAAS enabled? You then went on to mention a 60CSx which is surely WAAS enabled (as most Garmin GPSr's are). As for 14 vs 12 channels, what the use of having more when most people are only receiving 8-11 channels max? As for your little experience with your friend, are you really trying to put the Garmin down for being 10 foot from perfect? Ten foot is great, this is the first time I've seen someone complain about it. As for the Mag being spot on, that's great as well, but chances are that on the next cache the Garmin will be close while the Mag is a couple feet further away. Judging units by one single benchmark is not telling at all. Both are great units, both companies have advantages and disadvantages. However, your reasons don't compare either in any type of solid fashion.
  7. I get MUCH better reception on my 60Cx when I plug my $20 Gilsson into it, but I was wondering if there are any downfalls? I run my 60Cx off battery power, does the Gilsson antenna use a lot of power? Is it going to kill the batteries considerably faster?
  8. Is there any rule about hiding a cache in a stream (6"-2' depth) in a public park?
  9. We all know that clouds and darkness (WTF??) do not effect your GPS, so that part of your post is dead wrong. What I am wondering about is the battery part of it. Is a GPS going to be more accurate when it's batteries are at 90% than when it's batteries are at 45%?
  10. That's a real shame, I could have spent $10 more and got a USB GPS receiver as well.
  11. Since the question was answered, I'll try a new one. Is there any way to filter out Geocache waypoints? I would prefer to only see the Geocaching waypoints when i go to the Geocahing menu of the 60Cx. I just hate the way I have 200 Geocaches clogging up my Waypoint menu.
  12. When you purchase the GPS 18, is the version of City Navigator it comes with the same as if you purchased it separately? The reason I ask is because I just spent $110 on City Navigator 8. Then today I see the GPS 18 along with City navigator for $119. Should I have purchased the GPS 18? Is CN the same?
  13. The 60 series has both USB and serial connections. Here is the adapter to use serial: http://shop.garmin.com/accessory.jsp?sku=010%2D10141%2D00
  14. Most people won't need an external antenna, myself included. However, when I plug my Gilson into my 60Cx it goes from 7-8 satellites giving me about half on the meters to 10-11 satellites giving me full strength on the meters. And that's with the Gilson sitting on the top of the dashboard, not outside on the roof. It's definitely getting better reception, which could only help.
  15. BMudButt, how much did you pay in total for the GPS and software? I would look into returning it and buying off the internet (usually cheaper than local stores) and getting the proper software. Let us know how everything works out either way.
  16. I agree, companies have no right to make a profit for their hard work and huge investments. And it's your right to decide. Down with free enterprise! Evil capitalism! Evil freedom!
  17. I agree, companies have no right to make a profit for their hard work and huge investments.
  18. Changing your DVD player for a new one will cost very little (go to newegg.com) and is as easy as pulling and reinserting 2 plugs and four screws. Before doing anything, I would check the DVD on someone else's computer just to be sure.
  19. Have you purchased and uploaded street level detailed maps (Mapsource City Navigator, for example) to your 60C?
  20. I believe you can do that by adding the data field "Distance to Destination".
  21. That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks
  22. Ok, but what is it? Giving a location a voice just doesn't explain much...
  23. Is it common for your unit to freeze when you do what you said but the unit isn't connected to a PC?? Cause mine is stuck
